During these mini speed-dating sessions, asking wrong questions could be a waste of time and tell you nothing about the other person, making you lose a potentially interesting person. Asking open-ended questions requires well thought of answers and takes the conversation places. Asking questions that require just yes-no answers will lead to nothing and the person at the other end could just nod or shake their head in reply, ending the conversation there and then. Refrain from asking too personal questions that the other may hesitate to answer at a first meeting with a total stranger. Save those for a later date, when you get to know each other better and feel more comfortable with trusting each other. You should make an attempt at finding out the other person’s interests. Though it sounds clichéd, this is the best way to know if both of you have anything at all in common or not. You can be sure the other person will answer as honestly as possible as they too are looking for somebody to spend time with and wouldn’t want to lie and therefore waste time with the wrong person.
